Nassau County Legislator and Minority Leader Peter J. Schmitt had the pleasure of attending Eagle Court of Honor held for Seaford resident, Matthew P. Johns, of Boy Scout Troop 239. On this evening, Matthew was elevated to the rank of Eagle Scout, the highest achievement in scouting.
For his Eagle Scout Service Project, Matt created the “Dune Stabilization Project” at Robert Moses State Park which was a coordinated effort to transplant beach grasses to erosion-prone beach areas. Matt obtained financing and labor for the project through donations and volunteers.
Legislator Schmitt honored Matt with a Nassau County Legislative Citation of Honor. “I am so proud of the generous and selfless efforts that Matt has made to help others and the environment. He is a role model for all young men and women who want to make a difference in their community,” said Legislator Schmitt.

The Long Island Chapter of Transplant Recipients International Organization (TRIO) held the annual “Rose Garden Ceremony” to honor Donor Families who have chosen to donate loved ones’ organs and tissues to help ease the suffering of others. Nassau County

The Massapequa Chamber of Commerce recently celebrated their 60th Anniversary. Nassau County Legislator Peter J. Schmitt arranged for the placement of a sign from Nassau County commemorating the event.

The Massapequa Mustangs Football season got underway as Nassau County Legislator Peter J. Schmitt joined with members of the Mustang organization for Opening Day Ceremonies. The Massapequa Mustangs will provide activities for over 1,200 Massapequa youths this season.
